Will a can of Mountain Dew, lemonade, or seltzer water have a higher density?
Variables
Independent Variable:
Drink type.
Dependent Variable:
Density (g/cm3)
Variables That Need To Be Controlled:
Make sure to measure the mass and volume, store the sodas, and amount of soda the same way every time.
Hypothesis
I hypothesize that the can of lemonade will be the most dense, followed by seltzer and mountain dew.

Experimental Design
I am experimenting the different density of can beverage. I will conduct my experiment at home. There will be only one person in the experiment. I will be massing and finding out the volume of the can beverages. I will by doing 5 trials for each of the cans. As I conduct my experiment I will be be recording my data on a data table directly in to the computer. As I conduct my experiment I will be documenting it in my google docs.The way i will prove the i did the experiment is by taking pictures. I will up lode them to the computer and print them out to use on the project.
Materials List:
Triple beam balance.
Mountain Dew,lemonade, seltzer water.
Ruler.
Pencil.
Clipboard.
Paper.
Camera.
Data table.
Graduated cylinder.
Detailed procedure
Go to Walmart get mountain dew.
Get lemonade.
Get seltzer water.
Fine all the masses of the sodas.
Fine the volume.
Subtract the mass and the volume to get the density.
Repeat step 4-6 five times for every soda.
Then fine the average density for the sodas.

A way of finding volume is to have a beaker of a measuring cup and fill it with water and write down the volume of the water then put the object in completely under the water then write down that volume then you subtract the too volume and you will get the volume of the object.
A way to fine the mass of an object is using a triple balance. Witch is use by a have a known mass and putting the object on to balance and move know mass until it is equal.
The formula to find density is to take the mass and the volume of the object and divide the mass by the volume and you will get the density of the object.
The more mass the object has the gravity will push down on it so it will weight more.
The original purpose of the experiment was to find out what the density is in a can of Mountain Dew, lemonade, and seltzer water. The results of the experiment were that the lemonade(1.01g/cm3) lowest density and the Mountain Dew(1.02g/cm3) and seltzer water(1.02g/cm3) had the same density.
Discussion
My hypothesis was that the lemonade would have the most density followed by seltzer water, then Mountain Dew.My results did not support my hypothoseis. Some patterns and trends that my data showed was that the soda with fizz had a greater density. The Mountain Dew and the seltzer water had the same average density and they both have fizz.The lemonade does not have fizz and its density was less than the Mountain Dew and seltzer water. The relationship between the independent (drink type) and dependent (density) variables is the drink with the most fizz has the most density.I think the test I did went smoothly. The experiment was easy to complete. I didn’t have to change anything in my procedure and I made sure to remember everything i needed to do for the experiment. If I could improve my experiment, I would use more drinks. I wouldn’t just use 3. I would usr some more drinks with fizz and some without. An interesting study might involve studying people that have to limit the amount of soda they drink.
